I am in the USA, considering   upgrading  from a DS 708  to a MS 905 mini , a standard  MS 908, or a MS908 Pro . Presently from this site What is the no BS  USD $ costs presently at for one more year of updates for these 4 platforms ?
I know the Standard MS908 has a nice feature of an HDMI port for Big screen TV and projector displays whereI don't think  the MS905 has an HDMI port, also a MS908 can be upgraded to a Pro in the future by purchasing the J2534 separately down the road when I see more OE manufacturers J2534  programming supported by this tool . I would imagine  the cost of a year of updates will go up if the MS 908 is turned into a MS908P later when Marrying a Maxi Flash Pro to the tool.
Also if I do not get the J2534 programmer  and only use the available programmable and coding functions that are available on the platforms , other than faster processors , Android systems, and WIFI features of Maxi Sys  , WHAT CODING AND ADAPTATION FUNCTIONS CAN THE MAXI 905 OR 908 (WITHOUT THE J2534 PROGRAMMER VCI) DO PRESENTLY THAT A DS708 AT LATEST UPDATE LEVEL IS NOT ABLE TO DO.I doubt if a Tech 2 , DRB 3, Ford NGS , or a host of other older OE scan tools that programmed OEM modules had as fast a processor that a DS708 has, LOL.
Please give a known example, like  where a  DS 708 can only program  a regular Acura Immobilizer key where MS 905 can program both regular immobilizer keys and proximity remotes w smart key functions or has more Bi Directional and coding capabilities than a DS-708 without a j2534 VCI as the MS908P has, Thanks

I will go with the 908p . keep in mind that benz and bmw flashing/coding/programming on autel server it is only possible with the 908p and it will pay it self in no time. or the regular 908 will do fine and later add the maxiflash-pro.

to help a little with the math.  if your planning to upgrade, a 908 is 2300  usd plus shipping from aeswave.com with your one year update and warranty.

or you can get a 908p for 2300 usd  with free shipping from wobd2.com. also with a one year update and warranty. both sites are located in china

if you decide to get the 905 you can not add the maxiflash-pro to it. the cost for the 905 is  1695. autel controls what feature to add to what tool, of course the good stuff will always be for the 908p looking from the business point of view and what makes sense the most. the 905 and 908 will be capable of everything the 908p does  except on line flashing/programming, at least on paper it does.  the 708 well sorry to say it is a tool from the past  and soon to be discontinue, not a bad tool at all but it is not capable of a few things and speed is also an issue.

    good luck.

Thanks Ede65, maybe the DS 708 updates cost more than the 905 because the DS 708's runs Window CE instead Android Jelly Bean and Ford's Lawsuit expenses revolves around the DS708. Anytime you are dealing with Ford lawsuit and Microsoft OS it costs extra $. Guess  I was wrong thinking 12 months of updates for a MS908 Pro was at least several hundred higher than Snappy charges and that Pro's  j2534 VCI was just too hit or miss to trust as a Unvalidated or Unsupported programmer off an OE subscription. I thought I might be better off getting the lower cost Mini saving money on updates and just getting a used Cardaq Plus j2534 .
However You bring up a very good point about the Maxisys Pro paying for itself with the Pro's  programming capabilities from files off the Autel Server for Mercedes and BMW where I'm guessing you can't just purchase 24 hour subscriptions on the cheap from those car makers, like some OE sites
I have been working on my fair share of BMW and Benz and haven't hadneed for a J2534 programming tool  need so far. Lost out on ,a Ford factory remote starter installation on a 2010 Fusion. Guy brought to dealer for install because I could not say with confidence I would be able to do what requires an IDS with my DS708, but odds are getting  greater I am going to need one again sooner then later. Decisions decisions
